Employment Opportunities
Disney Cruise Line is working with The Bahamas to create a new island destination that protects and sustains the natural beauty of Lighthouse Point; celebrates culture; helps strengthen the community in Eleuthera; and creates sustainable economic opportunities for Bahamians.
Disney Cruise Line has selected American Bridge to oversee the design and construction for its project at Lighthouse Point. American Bridge has been working in The Bahamas and on Disney projects since 1998, including completing the original development of Disney Castaway Cay in Abaco, The Bahamas. They have completed more than 35 marine and/or upland projects in the Caribbean and Bahamas including complex marine, bridge and special structures. In addition to their vast experience with this type of work, American Bridge was also selected due to its commitment to building the Lighthouse Point project in an environmentally responsible way and to delivering on Disney’s commitment to create at least 120 construction jobs and maintaining an overall ratio of 80% Bahamian labor throughout construction. Disney has since nearly tripled that commitment in its Heads of Agreement and now will create more than 300 construction-related roles.
American Bridge is committed to working with Bahamian sub-contractors and Disney previously hosted information sessions and one-on-one meetings in Eleuthera and New Providence providing American Bridge the opportunity to meet directly with Bahamian contractors interested in working on the project.
American Bridge has opened an office on the second floor of the Symonette Enterprises Building on Queens Highway in Rock Sound, Eleuthera, The Bahamas. Those interested in being involved in the construction work, either as an employee or vendor, should contact Yvette Charlton at ycharlton@americanbridge.net, or may visit the office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday – Friday. Lunch hours are from 12p.m to 1p.m. daily.
Disney is committed to maximizing Bahamian participation in the project, touring construction sites and meeting with contractors across The Bahamas. Disney Cruise Line also joined the Bahamian Contractors Association and continues to engage with other industry associations.
